Evacuation Chairs

What is an Evacuation Chair?

Evacuation Chairs are compact and foldable mobile chairs used to evacuate people with disability downstairs. Evacuation chairs may be manually operated or have a battery-powered motor. The chairs have wheels and rubber tracks, allowing a controlled descent downstairs. Generally, evacuation chairs have speed regulation devices and braking systems that control the speed of descent or ascent and have additional brakes on the wheels when stationary. Motorised evacuation chairs are also available.
